In the current economic climate, many councils are looking to maximise their existing investments but may lack the knowledge, time, and expertise to manage these licences effectively.

    Byron has over 21 years of experience in the IT field. He began his career as a part-time computer builder while studying, which sparked his passion for networking, security, and scripting.

    Throughout his journey, he held various generalist roles, embracing challenges and developing a strong engineering background. His focus eventually shifted toward enterprise networking and security, leading him to a consulting role and ultimately to a dedicated position in cybersecurity.

    Over the past decade, he has implemented and developed a range of cybersecurity services for numerous organizations. Byron is passionate about delivering innovative solutions and collaborating with like-minded professionals in the cybersecurity domain.

    Learn more about Tauranga City Council and their effort to develop comprehensive IT cost transparency to support value stream owners and commercial teams across digital spend.

      Chad Wright

      Chad is the Chief Information Officer at Boston Dynamics, a Boston area robotics company whose mission is to imagine and create exceptional robots that enrich people's lives.

      The winner of BostonCIO's CIO of the Year in 2022 and a Finalist for InspireCIO's National CIO of the Year in 2023, Chad's career in Information Technology has spanned 30 years, including roles in a variety of industries, such as marketing, software, healthcare, retail and robotics.

      He’s worked at some of Boston’s most innovative companies, including Avid, Endeca Technologies, athenahealth and Amazon Robotics. In addition to his leadership roles, Chad's background includes business systems analysis, data analytics and project management with direct experience in ERP implementations, Cybersecurity, IT Service Management and IT Strategy.

      Chad graduated from the College of the Holy Cross with a degree in Mathematics and a Concentration in Computer Science. He holds a Master’s Degree in Information Technology from Bentley University and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.

      In his efforts to give back to the next generation of IT professionals, Chad is also an Adjunct Lecturer at Bentley University, teaching courses in Project Management, Data Management, and Systems Analysis and Design, to both graduate and undergraduate students.

      Artificial Intelligence (AI) is fast emerging in Local Government and recently Moorabool Shire Council has introduced an AI Assistant (Maddi). Much planning and thought went into the introduction of an AI Assistant with a particular focus on ensuring Maddi provides a wholesome support service but more importantly the P&C teams maintains it people interface which is integral to the success of their team. 

      Whilst an AI Assistant within a P&C team can genuinely improve efficiencies, provide opportunities for process improvement and free up capacity to tackle other challenges, we must not underestimate nor forget the importance of building and maintaining relationships, interacting and collaborating and understanding emotion and human behaviour.
